Witnessing your child’s first steps, hearing him utter his first words, sending him off to his very first day in school – these are moments that define parenthood …
… then there is PSLE, your child’s first major exam – or the most important exam of his young life, as most parents would argue.
After all, how well your child does for PSLE will shape his future.
So it’s no surprise your child may feel stressed out over it.
That stress level gets doubled for parents because of the huge expectations that come with PSLE.
It’s not uncommon to see parents taking many days of leave just before the exam period so that they could guide their children in their revision.
But could it already be too late by then?
Here are some tips to reduce PSLE stress for both yourself and your child.
Start Early … Like Right Now!
As you can imagine, that’s a lot of information … more so than an adult, much less your child, can ever hope to process.
And if your child hasn’t mastered the basic concepts, it doesn’t get any simpler.
This is why you need to start preparing your child for PSLE now.
According to studies, the average person forgets 50% of the new information that he has just learnt in an hour. By the end of the day, he would have forgotten 70%.
But when the information is revised inside the first 24 hours of learning it, he can retain his memory for up to 2 weeks.
If the information is revised yet again inside these 2 weeks, he can retain his memory for 2 months! And if … well, you get the idea.
The earlier your child starts revising for PSLE, the longer he’s able to keep the information that he has learnt fresh.
Then why not just revise 2 weeks before PSLE, you might ask.
Well … it’s not possible to revise 6 years’ worth of information at one go, right?
Or is it …
Boost Your Child’s Memory
I’m not saying your child can revise 6 years’ worth of studies at one go – because that’s not humanly possible …
… but consider this: if your child could memorise 30 words in less than an hour, wouldn’t it be great?
This would mean your child can not only retain his memory for months … if you start preparing him for PSLE now, but also learn twice or even triple the amount of information!
As an ex-MOE teacher with years of experience in both neighbourhood schools and top institutions, I have devised what I would like to call the Super Memory Technique.
Studying hard isn’t enough – your child needs to study smart too.
And that’s what the Super Memory Technique is about … it’s about giving your child that extra edge for PSLE next year.
