Its Ivan from CPA Profits Academy again.
Today I will be sharing 5 productivity hacks to boost your efficiency. This is what I do to ensure that I boost myself up for the maximum efficiency. It may or may not work for you. But this is currently what is working for me and i would just like to blog about it. I take my blog more like my online diary where i share what I have been doing and when i look back and my blog, it reflect as a memory of my journey towards entrepreneurship and how i have grown over the years.
1. Don’t just have an office, have employees working in your office!
I used to rent an office twice. But both time, it failed to work out for me. I would go out renting a very nice office space hoping that it could increase my productivity at work. Both time it failed. I would be very enthusiastic at work for a while and then i would start to get lazy. Why bother to travel all the way to office when i could actually work at the comfort of my own home?
It was only until i start to hire my first employee that i started seeing changes to my lifestyle. My girl would come to the office everyday and if i wanted to communicate effectively to her to get the things done, i would have to go to my office everyday. That was when i started to feel that there was a need to be office everyday.
When you are in the office, there is only 1 thing that you can do. And that is work. But unknowingly, i have been going to my office almost daily for the past 8 months and the results have been fantastic. Increased in efficiency and business have definitely soared through the roof.
Business ideas started to flow better and faster and getting things were being done at a much faster rate than before. I could accomplished the things that i normally take 3 days to do in 1 day now.
2) Work on a bigger computer screen
I used to think all computer are the same. The screen size does not matter. Whether you are on a 11 inch netbook or a 27 inch iMac. It does not matter. You see the same thing, just bigger or smaller. Oh Boy was i wrong!
I used to work on a 13 inch laptop and what happened was i suffered from severe backache. The pain got so bad that i would hardly sit for 20 mins and that the pain would be too disturbing to continue to work anymore. This truly hurt the effectiveness of my work.
When you work on your laptop and deeply engrossed in your work, your sitting posture unknowingly becomes out of whack.
You could be sitting like that without you knowing at all. And guess what, your back muscle start to get tensed up to support your posture and eventually it gives way and you get back ache.
It’s a really common ‘Internet Marketer’ syndrome but i would highly advise you to take good care of your own back.
When you use a desktop computer, your sitting posture naturally get corrected because you now have to look higher in order to look at your screen.
I am on a 27 inch iMac now at work at the result has been truly amazing. I can now work longer hours on my chair without feeling anything. I would make it a point to stand up and walk around to stretch my back and body every 1-2 hours and i feel so much better now.
Bad posture sucks so make it a point to make sure you are sitting correctly so that you can work longer hours in the longer run and this will increase your productivity significantly.
3) Creating a Work life balance environment
I used to work like a bull and that hurts your creativity and your flow of ideas drastically. Spending prolong hours at your computer not only slows you down on your productivity, it also inhibits the flow of great ideas. Most of the ideas that i have for my business happens when i am not at my desk in front of my computer. It could happen when i am sleeping, it could also happen when i am showering or swimming.
Believe me! working in front of the computer all day long will harm you more than help you. When you are off work, make sure you are off work completely. Go and spend more time with your family and friends. Just go and enjoy yourself and not think about work. Because when you come back to work the next time, you could become much more effective and much more efficient.
i like to take short trips overseas every now and then because it helps me to get away from work for awhile and clear my mind off work completely. You could be doing something that you like or just simply take some time off work You will be surprise at how much better your brain could function when you come back to work the next time.
4) Get Rid of Distractions
I have been using this program called rescue time for some time now. It is a program that tracks all my activity on my computer and generates a report on how how long I have been spending on a website or application.
Before using this program, I did not know that I have been spending close to 2 hours a day on Facebook!
When i used Rescue Time to block Facebook at certain times of the day, I noticed that my productivity soared.
5) Exercise early in the morning
Exercising early in the morning not only gives you a lightning flash of vitality for the day, it also boost better sleep at night. I don’t mean that you have to run 2.4 or anything, just a short walk or breathing excercises for just 7 mins in the morning will help awaken your body and get you ready for the day!
Don’t trust what i say, do it and let me know your experience!
